I believe that events are singular and this type of photography can be difficult to emote the heightened feelings of a past occurrence. My goal is to relay a moment in time.
As a photographer in an event or costume role-play (cosplay) setting I will be stationed in one position for half my gigs, and given full stage access for the other half. I openly communicate with the production staff on the amount of disruption (or shutter noise) allowed to keep the artists comfortable and without distraction. I heavily manipulate event and cosplay shots in post-production to emphasize the emotion.
